Five people, one round, no contracts.

Verdant was started in 2008 by Rob Aldous after eleven years as a greenkeeper on a course near Godalming. Almost everything we do comes from that: the difference is that a green is looked at every day and a domestic lawn five times a year, so the five visits have to be the right five.

There are five of us now. All BASIS or NPTC qualified, all directly employed, and each responsible for their own customers rather than working a shared list.

We cover about twenty-five minutes’ drive from Guildford and we have turned down work outside it since 2019. A lawn care round that spreads out stops turning up when it said it would, and turning up is most of the job.

We have no contracts and never have. Around 4% of customers leave in a given year, and most of those have moved house. That figure is the only marketing claim on this site we would defend in an argument.
